day. Conclusions: Symptomes and appearence of the disease suggested several diseases but the laboratory tests were normal, making the diagnosis more difficult, the supposed diagnosis did not fit properly for the patient age. Careful observation of patients and the disease, exfoliative cytology and a biopsy, microbiological investigations allow the diagnosis, ruling out erythema multiforme and drug-induced toxic epidermal necrolysis, both which are similar to SSS Syndrome.

Survey on Etiology of Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis in Pediatric Patients: A Six-Year Study from Iran
Background Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are among the most severe dermatologic reactions to the drugs. Data about SJS and TEN among pediatric population especially in Iran is limited. This study aimed to investigate the clinical and para-clinical characteristics of pediatric patients with SJS/TEN. متن کاملReactivation of Cytomegalovirus in a Patient with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome-Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis
Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are severe adverse cutaneous reactions to drugs. We describe the case of a 19 year old patient with SJS/TEN overlap syndrome, who developed severe interstitial pneumonia after she had received antiepileptic drugs. A cytomegalovirus infection was diagnosed by Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) detection on Bronchoalveo...
متن کاملThe role of malignancy in the mortality of Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis
Background Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) / Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) is a rare, severe, and occasionally fatal skin reaction caused mainly by medications. The reported mortality associated with TEN varies from 10-70%. SCORTEN, a severity-of-illness score which estimates the mortality in TEN has been developed and validated. Malignancy was considered as 1 of the 7 independent prognostic ...
